Lockheed C-130 Hercules
Not really beautiful to see, but a flying legend, is the Lockheed C-130 Hercules, named after the Greek mythical hero who became famous for his strength and the labours he performed. The C-130 is, although primarily a transport plane, suitable for a variety of missions, like close air support, aerial refueling, electronic surveillance, search and rescue (SAR), weather mapping and reconnaissance, fire fighting, aerial spraying and many more.
The aircraft is in production for more than fifty years, since the mid-fifties of last century, and more than 2,200 have been built. The Lockheed C-130 Hercules is flown by more than sixty nations worldwide and there are more than seventy variations. Thus a real favourite!
