Connie is a Lady. Of course she is, the Lockheed Constellation is a graceful and beautiful airliner - thanks to her triple tail and dolphin-like fuselage. I was born too late for the heydays of the post-war propliners so I have not seen and photographed many aircraft like the Lockheed Constellation, Douglas Skymaster and Convairliner in action. Most Constellations I have seen in aircraft museums, but that is still enough to be impressed and to make it the champion of my favourites.
The Lockheed Constellation was the first pressurized airliner in widespread use. The beautiful TWA aircraft on the picture is part of the excellent collection of Pima Air and Space Museum in Arizona. The following pages show some more examples of Constellations I have seen and photographed, plus additional pictures from Lockheed.
