Vickers Viscount

The Vickers Viscount was the most successful post-war British airliner. It made its first flight on 16 July 1948 as 'Type 630', with four Rolls-Royce Dart RDa.1 turboprops. On 28 August 1950 the much improved 'Type 700', seating 53 passengers, flew for the first time with 40 per cent more powerful RDa.3 engines and as such it was ordered by BEA, soon followed by major airlines worldwide. Several improved versions appeared, including the stretched Type 800. Vickers built a total of 445 Viscounts.

Vickers Viscount Pima

This Vickers Viscount is part of the selection of the Pima Air and Space Museum in Arizona.

Vickers Viscount Arkia
