Lockheed C-5A Galaxy
The Lockheed C-5A Galaxy heavy transport aircraft is one of the biggest aircraft in the world. The first flight took place on 30 June 1968. Original C-5As had to be re-winged during the 1980s after cracks were found. The last of 50 improved C-5Bs was delivered in 1989, when production ceased after a total of 131 aircraft was built. Two modified aircraft, C-5Cs, are flown on behalf of NASA for the transport of satellites. All remaining C-5s are being modernised with new avionics.
