![]() Trans Northern, based at Anchorage Ted Stevens Airport, is flying a number of Douglas Super DC-3 (R4D-8 Super Skytrain) aircraft, to be recognised by its higher tail and somewhat longer fuselage. The aircraft on the photograph is approaching its homebase.

Many Dakota's can be found in museum, like this one in the China Aviation Museum near Beijing. It is a licence-built Lisunov Li-2 and it was formerly operated by National Aviation Corporation in China. Note the four-bladed propellers. |

This Douglas C-47/DC-3 dates back to 1944 when it was delivered to the USAAF. Later it served with the US Navy and a number of civilian airlines. Note the skis attached to the undercarriage. |
